Once a year, the mid-autumn festival (mooncake) is a must to celebrate. Its the day where all the family member reunite and have a reunion dinner. But for me and my friends, its also the very special occasion for us to gather and makan-makan.

We have been practicing these since old school time, the most pioneer group of us are the lakkia. This could be the 10th time, and the very very first time was celebrated at my old house. *most of the time celebrate at my house**

We try to make it more happening this year as previous year we don’t get any much response, only a few people attended. Hence we try to invite more friends to join us instead of the few lakkia member of us. Many of the existing members were not around in MIRI, but nevermind, their spirit is always here!

We make it as potluck style, which is hassle free, not much preparation needed.

My mom being very attentive, keep on serving my friends fruits and tell them the watermelon is for diet one. So that no excuse to say they are on diet. But they are too full, so only some of them layan my mom.

The makan-makan session was over, its only 9pm. We continue with talk craps hour.. watch tv.. and of course take photo!

Soon it comes to 10pm. We gotta prepare our lanterns, before we start our lantern parade around my residential area.

YEN help me to buy this butterfly lantern. Hmm, but they say it looks like a cock more than butterfly.

Nowadays, lantern come in many many new patterns, but still the most traditional lantern looks the best!
As the preparation in progress, we keep comparing and complaining each other’s lantern. Just like ah Liang, he says “i have no stick!” Aduh….

I bring him to the road side and got back some dry woods, and he start to cut his own dick stick.

Pierre says he budget the lantern for RM10, who knows, Irene the gf, bought RM5 only. Which includes the glow in dark stick! Hahahaha.. but still the traditional lantern can last longer!

But dun laugh him first… my butterfly cum cock lantern doesn’t work throughout the walk. It keeps turn off, as the open space is too big. Luckily we got spare lantern, so I continue my walk with this traditional lantern.

PIERRE keep grumbling why the walk seems so far and so long… the lazy bum start new idea to fully utilize his dick.. but.. fail.

The walk takes around 45minutes. Of course we are clever enough to bring extra candles and lighters.

MingKang and Wanfern were the late comers, as they have to attend wedding dinner. While we were patrolling, we caught them on the road! Gotcha!!!! hehehe..

After the walk, of course is time to eat mooncake la! The party ended at 12am and I’m totally exhausted. Luckily not much clean up job need to be done.

The night was really eventful, thanks to all my friends for the participation. Hope the next celebration will be greater!

We went to Meng Chai Seafood last night, craving for seafood, Ooops, Cholesterol is bouncing up! Supposedly they suggested to have dinner at Siamese, but its full house hence we shifted to the next opposite choice, Meng Chai!

MengChai has been very very popular in MIRI, but honestly speaking this is my very first time to dine out there. Kimgo and Jerry do the seafood selecting while Florence and I just chit chatting there. *sorry no xx or xy photo, as I’m not in the mood for camwhore*

It’s been quite sometime I haven’t taste the local favourite dish.  Their chicken porridge is very well known, the very old brand in MIRI. Everyone sure know about the popular Chicken Porridge, but the main problem is to get a seat though! But we managed!

Someone thought I must be going out with a guy, sorry la hor, I’m going out with dear HuiLee. She’s so kind enough to come pick me in the rain, and we bump into Elaine and Adela too! What a small small world.

老chubby is here hunting for food.. I’m very very hungry, and i finish the whole bowl ley!!!

Although they are very popular, somehow, not many people would actually purposely come for their porridge. Main reason, there is limited parking space around the open air market. The 2nd reason, there’s lots of Mickey gang around the floor. So, you might think of the hygieness. Honestly, my bf know me well, he know i hate to see dirty places… but for me its still acceptable to eat at open air, as long as u don’t hunt for the Mickey! Com’n la.. go eat see the porridge ma.. who ask you to see the Mickey! Duh!

It took so many times for me to re edit this post, thanks to the slow connection and my sotplug wordpress, now everything should be back to normal and hopefully it can be successful this time without facing much problem. Supposedly, the entry is going to be long, but i think I’m gonna cut the crap and straight to the point!

Let’s get back to my Manukan Travelogue, the second day of my visit to Sabah.

It is just repeating the same steps as yesterday, that we have to get to Jesselton Point by 8am to catch up the earliest boat to the island. While waiting for the boat to arrive, we get our breakfast from the food court. Okay, this time i go for the Nasi Lemak. Hmm it taste better and hotter than the bihun yesterday.

Anyway, the travel mate for Manukan are slightly a change, those who went to Sapi the earlier gave up Manukan as they were all exhausted and some of them need to do their last minute shopping. I am supposedly not joining them too, but what can i do if i don’t join them? Its going to be a big waste to stay at hotel only.. so My Kiasu spirit tell me, I must go else i will regret.

Hence, only Yen and I join the turtle couple. Ooops i mean Ming Kang and Wanfern.
The boat ride cost RM17 per head to Manukan. Another RM3 for the tax as well. I insist saying that I don’t want to join them for the snorkeling due to the sun burnt of yesterday.

Sempat lagi, i camwhore before we depart to the island.

Finally the boat is here.. and happily 4 of us get on the boat and arrive Manukan Island 15 minutes later. The boat ride was a bit bumpy due to the rough sea.

This is goolooloo, arriving Manukan Island. There’s many many fishes on the Jetty, ya, its more than Sapi. And of course, I will start shooting pictures of the fish… without wasting any second.

There’s people who directly start sitting by the Jetty and start feeding the fish.

Personally I feel that Manukan Island is more commercialized. Just right after we pass through the entrance. I can see nice built chalet by the beach side. Oh well. that’s for rent for sure, and its not cheap, the lowest range start from RM380 per night. Oh My God…..

The beach are well maintained, it is clean and life guard houses are available along the beach side. Facilities wise, they are well equipped, there’s a small booth renting snorkeling equipments.

My friends, Yen, Wanfern and MingKang get the snorkeling shoes from there. Ya, we learn from experience of yesterday, with a snorkeling shoes it is much more easier to swim and you wont get cut on your legs like i do !!!

While the friends go for the first round snorkeling, I become the nanny to take care of everyone’s belongings. Of course, I wont be sitting there day dreaming, I go for beach strolling and take nice pictures.

Talk about the beach. I still prefer Sapi. Although Manukan is bigger, but Sapi tends to give more natural feel.

Never forget, to pimp my blog.

The crystal greenish water do make me have the urge to jump down for a swim, but too bad i can’t swim… so i can only walk around and take pictures. The weather is pretty hot, and its blue sky isn’t clear enough for photo shooting. The pictures turns out to be flare, which is totally out of my expectations!

Manukan Island

I bumped into a bunch of young men trying out the scuba-doo water sport. I try to peep them how it works, unfortunately, the mini submarine only work out when you to dive into the sea. So of course I cant see anything on the ground. Hahaha…

It was just 10am, still early… The little devil in my heart says I will regret if i didn’t dive in to see the corals. Thanks to MingKang being my snorkeling driver this time, patiently guide me along the snorkeling. I know its pretty tired for him to take care of someone who totally dunno how to swim. Some more, an oversize baggage. Grrr!!!

The fishes and corals here are slightly more than Sapi, but somehow the most I’ve seen are dead corals which is a bit of disappointment. Poor corals, who are the one so evil to pollute your home.

Yay, the group photos. That’s the end of the Manukan Trip.

We have to leave the Island before 11am, but its almost time. So we have to rush before the boat left us behind on the island.

We manage to get bathed, get changed and get on boat on 11.30am. The boat was there waiting for us for half hour, please do not practice this, its bad example. Luckily the boatmen did not grumble.

Once again we reach Jesselton Point before 12noon. The weather is killing me, once again my skin tone increase another level. Wuwuwu.. but its okay, there’s one word call Hitam Manis - Black Beauty! Wakakakakaka…

I’m back from my 3days 2nights vacation at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. The trip was great, I have good times spent with 9 of my good buddies.  And now, I’m all over exhausted. Will need to recharge back my energy first before i can really start blogging.

Goolooloo was on Manukan Island.

I went snorkerling straight for 2 days. Its really risky for a fatpanda to go snorkerling, as I really can’t swim. Somehow, my friends are helpful to be my guide and let me be their burden. They swim, and i attached to them. Haha.. the snorkerling experience was damn scary but fun!

Anyway, fun is fun. I did not bring any souvenirs back, but infact they gave it for free.

I got free sun burnt!

See the fat baby skin, it turns into dark bangla skin now! But i never see fat bangla.

And.. 3 sand fly bites on my legs and arms.

And being too naughty, i cut my leg while playing in the water.
Ouch, its very pain ok!

This is the best gift from the island. Anyway.. its fun!!! and I’m giving to you all. hahahaha.

Over the weekend, I’ve spend my precious time hanging out with the mc.net gang. Thanks to stupidhead for organizing the astronomy weekend at MIRI, it given me a chances to explore more about Astronomy.

Stupidhead who is not stupid and his partner CK from Penang has put the greatest effort to hold some events through out the weekend. While Jerry, Lina and I attended the sidewalk astronomy observation at Petroleum Museum last night. To my surprise, it actually attracts quite a few number of people to turn up for the observation, the weather is consider “good” also at least I’ve given chances to witness the Moon, Saturn, Jupiter and I’ve learn what is south cross!!!

I was very excited over the night that this is the first time in my life I shoot for astronomy photography. Once again thanks to stupidhead, he taught me its actually just a point and shoot but make sure you don’t take any drugs before that, cos shaking hands will only damage the photo results.

We left the sidewalk observation around 8.30pm, then we go for a dinner. Cos Jerry and I are definitely on a diet scheme, no no.. cos we taken too much during the food hunt in the morning. Having the late night dinner is pretty unhealthy, but luckily AngelLina is so slim, she can help me to “kaotim” my portion. Kekeke.. somemore Jerry so gentle… ahem*

Dinner is over, Alex,Florence, StupidHead and CK joined us around 10. We have some limteh session on ghost stories sharing. Hey its the 7th month of lunar calendar, don’t play play lar!

The more they say, the more i scare. Haha.. and kesian Jerry’s hand got pinched!

Florence being too excited, or dunno maybe sexcited, haha… spilled the whole glass of chinese tea on my pants. It looks so awful, that I seems like pee on my pants!

But its ok la, i know she did in on PURPOSE. Wakakaka!!!

To revenge, we hunt to Florence’s new house and mess around the house. But we sempat lagi to camwhore, thats for sure. It was 12 something, but we still dare dare turn on the hifi system loud. Haha.. Florence, did your neighbour lodge complain????

Ok la. It was 12.37pm we left the house. Our driver Jerry have to send us home one by one. Thanks so much ya!!!

Once again, I’m back to Sick Mode, remain as stay home BB, and the hungry ghost festive is just around, I’ve been warned not to go out late, not to drive fast fast, not to run here and there, so better still become a stay home baby lo. Sigh..

The Makan Maniacs gang who the founder is Dasolve, and supported by Saf and HuiLee has once again organize a food hunting gathering at the newly open restaurant in Miri City, called CITRUS. Best of all, its my pleasure that I manage to join the Makan Maniacs gang from MC.NET for this round of gathering.

To be exact, Citrus is located at Sylvia Road. You must be puzzled, where on earth is Jalan Sylvia.. it’s is the same row as the Nissan show room at town, somewhere at the T-junction of Old Dewan Suarah & Pacific Orient Hotel. I bet if you are driving from the direction of Cityfan to town, keep your eye on the right, you can easily spotted their banner stating, Citrus is now OPEN!

So now have you got the clear picture of Citrus? Still don’t know?? Google it please, google lao pan niang out of idea liao..

The ambient of Citrus are quite fresh in lime, colour combinations are from green to yellowish, that suits their name Citrus the best. Perhaps, I should have ask do they have lime juice for sale, then I’ll be their regular customer for that juice*.

There are supposed to be 15 of us for this gathering, and Hui Lee has put the great effort to made us a reservation with a long L-shape table, to ensure that we have our “BIG BUM” rest assured.

I was there on time at 7.30pm. Most of the faces I met up for the very first time. Thanks for their warmth welcome, I feel like I’m in their family

Having some good times hearing their lame jokes does make the environment much more livelier, as if compared everyone just sit there looking at the menu right? Jerry and Huilee are the big entertainers of the night, without their laugthers I might feel lost too!

Somehow having a L-shape sitting might be a problem to communicate with all the members. I did not catch much with the guys on my left, maybe the next round?

I’m lucky that I was sitting beside HuiLee, not only that she keep me entertain but all the food serve must be “taxed” by the founder of Makan Maniacs before serving to the one who order it. “Taxed” as in, we have to take photo mar.. we have to do QAQC mar.. that’s the procedure…

For the very first round, the beverage were served. As I’m a sicko!, hmm, I go for HOT MILO. I heart the mug they use.

About the food review, let’s Dasolve the maniac to play the role. Perhaps I feel a bit pressure to write it, if I write it too good, people will start commenting that I am advertising for Citrus. If i criticised it, Pn.MarinaTan my former english teacher, will definitely kill me off, and you can’t see me again. Hahaha..Why would she kill me, cos Citrus is owned by her son! What a small small world!

But kepo-kepo must say a bit la, I love their menu, its good for fine food that I would love to try occasionally. From the feedback of the members, most of them says the food is acceptable, and everyone finish their portion, that’s a respect to the chef right?

As for myself, I ordered the Citrus Breaded Chicken, which is recommended by CheeseCake to me. I found it a little bit too dry. Maybe I am just too sick, shouldn’t go for those heaty food!

They first tell me that LEX is a busdriver, my head pop-up with lots of question marks. But I know that’s for sure its a joke. Only then they reveal the truth that he is a designer, and I strongly believe those who live for art has their special characteristics. This is how special he is, he customized the pasta menus and ask the kitchen to prepare for him. End up, aLex.. how’s your pasta? Taste good?? Kekeke….

Saf and Cheesecake - Love Fondue.

One of the special menu that really bring my attention is the Chocolate Fondue. I’m a big fan of chocolate fondue. My last tried of fondue was at Singapore’s Swensen. There’s still improvement room needed for Citrus, keep up the good work

Before i start ranting on how hurt I am, maybe I should thanks to my readers who left me comments telling me they “heart” my nail arts. Thanks a lot, and today I’m gonna reveal the true story. *Sob Sob*

My crooked nails.

Most of the time I’ve been keeping my nails short, main reason are because I have bad habits to bite them! When the brain is thinking and the mouth start biting the nails or to be exact, i bite the skin off as well. That is why my fingers are dry, and it could never recover back to the normal skin texture. It turns to be crooked nails. My bad.

I do not know how to call this kind of sickness, but once ago, a friend told me there’s medicine to cure this habits. He tell me to go the pharmacy and let the doctor know about my symptoms. Somehow, I never try, I believe in self control, as long as i don’t “overuse” my brain, and don’t bite, it sounds to be FINE!

I feel sorry for my nails. I want to have good looking nails like all the girls out there.

In order to cut down the possibilities in Biting, I have to keep my nails long! I have to put on nail arts so that I won’t be biting the beautiful flowers off. That was true, and quite effective, err if there’s no “big case” happen in between. I have to make sure I don’t bite when my brain start “thinking”. That’s pretty hard!

My simple nail art

So far so good, the nails are fine, just sometimes it become shorter a bit. Ooops. But the skin are still remain dry, and ocassionally I even dare to peel them off till it bleeds! *its pretty hard to control, same theory applies when you are addicted to drugs*

But to maintain the simple nail arts are quite easy too!
First, you gotta get one base color, please don’t go for dark color cos its hard to maintain, go for light colours, just like silver, peach or pink. Then, get some flowerish 3D stickers to stick on it. Don’t put too much, make it as simple as possible. Then the last step, apply the transparent coating.

To maintain it, re-apply the coating if you think its needed.

But for me, a set of nail art can only last for 1-2 weeks time, cos I will start biting, peeling and end up its looks badly on my hand again. hahahaha…

But keeping my nails long isn’t a good thing also. First time in my life i encounter nail breakage, that actually happened accidentally when I wanted to take out something valuable out of my bag. I try to push againts it from dropping, ended up i break my nails. I wasn’t aware it was bleeding as i was in a rush, only when I start feeling pain, then I realize it was bleeding! OMG!

I have to cut off the finger nail, but the swollen part was too deep, so I have to bear the pain and left it plastered for 2 nights.

Last night I made a futher cut, and I saw the swollen part. It is still very pain, I don’t even dare to cut it. But sometimes, things have to get it done, cannot put there halfway. So.. I take up the courage to cut it to the shortest length.

Hey, that’s my plastered finger! Luckily it wasn’t the middle finger =.=
