Let’s take a tour of my previous 1st Cake making experience. :p

I bought Digestive Biscuit, cost around RM7**.
Canned Peach – RM 5 – Keep the syrup and cut the peaches into small pieces.

Crashed the Digestive Biscuit, I use almost half a packet, and the other half I keep for next round. Just put the biscuit into a clean plastic, and crash it with a glass bottle or hard surface thing. No blender needed.

I bought ButterCup, but if you have other preferable brand should be ok. RM3.30

Took half packet of 250g butter , and put into a bowl.

Express melting way, put into Microwave for 1-2 mins

Mix well the cookies and butter, if its moisture enough it’s not necessary to pour in all the butter.

Flatten it into the tray * i’m using a spoon only.

Chilled it in the fridge. *Lower Tray*

The base is done

Before we begin the Cream Cheese, the very important task is the Gelatine!

I bought the Gelatine Powder for RM3 – 50g.

Some of my friend prefer the packed Gelatine, which is more expensive.

Stir the 20g Gelatin with the 200 ml Syrup and put it to the pot for Double Boil.

The pot i’m using are the double boil pot but if you don’t have this kind of pot you may use your ways

Keep stirring it, keep it liquid.

Leave cool while preparing the cream cheese.

Everyone recommend me to buy Philadelphia – Cream Cheese. Seriously it taste good but it’s so expensive. RM9.90 per pack.

Leave the Cream Cheese on normal room temperature before the cheese making before you start the cake making

Press the cheese, see if its soft enough to beat.

Beat the Cream Cheese together with the Castor Sugar.

Taste it to your own preference sweetness, it’s not necessary to pour in all the Sugar.

Just beat with a hand whisk enough, no mixer needed.

I bought this Dutch Lady Original Yogurt. I bought the bigger packing, because it’s cheaper and I can save it for next round. RM7*

Mix in the 300g Yogurt and start beating until fluffy.

It’s getting more liquid after the yogurt, so its easier to beat now.

Mix in the small pieces of peaches

Mix in the boiled Gelatine

Stir well

Pour into the tray and ready to chill

I put into Freezer for 1st 30 mins, then only I transfer it to *lower tray* after it set.

The Chilled Yogurt Cheese Cake is set!

After 3 hours chilling inside the fridge, and it’s time to take it out!

I’m happy with the outcome but of course it’s not up to perfection.

Wanna have a slice of cheese cake?

Then make it your own! hahhaa..

This is the easiest cake I’ve tried and it’s presentable!

Total cost for this cake is roughly around RM40. However some of the ingredients can be keep for next round.

Hope you enjoy the cake making progress!

Finally, it’s here.

I’ve been awaiting it to arrive Miri and it here last month.

OldTown White Coffee, are you familiar with this?

For coffee lover, a cup of white coffee… a very small cup which cost around RM4.50 is really blooody expensive.

But sitting in this nice renovations, I believe a lot of people are still willing to spend here.

Basically the renovations are just similar to any other OldTown concept.

Personally what I like about OldTown are mainly because of the choices of food are rarely to be found in Miri. Such as Assam Laksa? Although it’s not the best but at least that’s the only “authentic” assam laksa available in Miri.

Disappointingly, whenever I mention of OldTown, a lot of friends will start commenting, “Service Poor la”, “Food S*cks”, “Expensive”, etc etc. Definitely there’s a reason why people say so.

For instant, our order for HOT beverage, turn out to be “XdaPns”.

Do you know what does it stand for “XdaPns”… it means Tak Ada Air Panas!!! How could a coffee shop runs without hot water? The worst case is, she didn’t inform us immediately, we only get to know there’s no hot water after we asked the waitress why the service so slow!

Somehow I truly understand, it is a new toilet, some maintenance work still in progress. Perhaps the staff still need more time to adapt their ordering system.

I’ve chosen OldTown for my breakfast or brunch. This offer only valid from Monday to Friday up to 11am.

Definitely, the meals provided are more affordable price as low as RM3.90. Tax are not included yet

RM3.90, you get a Nasi Lemak Biasa and a cup of beverage up to your choice.

For RM4.90, then you can have toast and egg

Again , the egg yolk always came out to be broken , not in whole egg. I wonder why this happen.

Their toast are special, because its brown color :p
But it is very thin, i won’t feel full taking this.

Our beverage, Chocolote & Xi Mut Milk Tea.

I also tried the Beehoon set RM5.90.

It’s definitely also a good place for you to chill out, bring your tablet, ipad or whatever and start enjoy your day =)

Talk of Steamboat Buffet, I believe the best experience could be from the Taiwan. So far, none can beat down the Taiwanese Steamboat. Somehow, I believe 883 Steamboat are trying its best to give the best choice for people in Miri. If not mistaken it was launched early this year, but I could finally grab a chance to try out few weeks ago. It’s never too late, because their business is always that overloaded. If you did not make a reservation, it’s hardly get table.

883 is located at Permyjaya, if you know where is the McDonald drive through, then you will see this bright-eyescatching- signboard along the road side. It is same row as McD. We were there around 7pm but there’s alot of people earlier than me.

The buffet ingredients are all well prepared in the fridge. Grab up your own plates and start picking the ingredients that you like.

The seafood corner. This corner is super fast finish, you need to “watch” it from time to time.

I realize that the frequence they replenish the food are quite slow especially come to “Mussels” or “sotong”.

The “balls” corner, these are all the frozen meat balls, nuggets, dumplings… etc etc.. Please please please do not take the green dumplings. It makes my soup turn into GREEN color.

The “MEAT” are really generous. It’s marinated into different sauces. You can have chicken, beef and lamb.

Now the “Vege” corner. Quite disappointing also, the vege , the mushrooms are very slow to restock too!

There comes the “dessert” corner, mix your own ice kacang.

It’s not an easy task to mix out a superb Ice Kacang..

Or you want some ice – cream? Free flow of nestle ice-cream .

How about the chocolate fondue?
Talk of this fondue, actually I’m a bit worry to consume. As what you can see, the big bowl of chocolate were left there unattend. Meaning, that flies or insects anytime can drop in. Second worry, the big bowl of chocolate would not finish in a night, are they going to recycle? Hmm, that’s only my own worries…

So let’s begin with the Steamboat.

We were given 2 pot, 2 tables to fit in 8 person. I think 4 person per table is the most appropriate figure because you gonna use up a lot of space to put places, sauces and drinks.

You can boiled in the soup, either Chicken or Tomyam. Free flow of Soup.

Or most of us would prefer BBQ style, but try prevent the big wind which you could hardly control the stove. The cockles, meat, mussels are prawns are best to eat after you grill it.

The total eating environment was in a mess, but that shows we really enjoy our time having fun in eating.

I believe it could be more enjoyable if we go during the weekdays.

883 BBQ Steamboat – Contact No: 014 688 8091.
Rate : RM25 per head.

Honestly, this BBQ steamboat concept has landed Miri ages ago. Back then it was only available at Airy Cafe and Michael Steamboat. Somehow the wave of the steamboat has gone. Airy cafe has now turn into air-conditioned eating place, while Michael Steamboat is still surviving but nothing big improvement has been done although they only charge RM18 per head.

So, do remember to make a booking with them before you plan to go!

Life as a semi housewife, and I would start blogging about some easy tips to make your life easier If someone gonna ask me, “hey, can you cook?” I would definitely answer I’m not a good cook. Somehow I do love to learn new thing as long as it’s EASY to deal with. =)

So during our house warming, my sister in law bought us a set of Yogurt Maker. At first I thought I won’t be using it very often since it take times for preparation. Somehow after I realise how easy it is, and I’ve fall in love with making yogurt. Most importantly, Alex love it so I will continuously feed him. Haha!

Let’s get started with the Yogurt Maker. The pricing for Easiyo products are varies depends on location or shop. I saw the price ranging from RM70 to RM90. With this maker, you also need the Yogurt Base & Culture.

The range for the powder is around RM14 – RM18.50 . Some place have the Buy 5 Free 1 Promo. The best flavor so far I’ve tried are peach and strawberry.

Add in 1 packet of Easiyo into the 1Kg bottle, add cold water till half

Shake it and add more water till top

Closely it tightly.

Put it into the Yogurt Maker, add in Hot Water to the indicated level.

Put it overnight (8 hours or more), and chilled it in fridge.

That’s all. Your yogurt is SET!

So plain yogurt normally is boring, maybe after a few times you will fed up with it. To enhance it, try mix it with some fruit. I think peach is the best to mix with any flavor. And to make it even more interesting, you can make it as Yogurt Drink, which is called Lassi.

Some of my friends add in Banana or Milk if you want a richer taste.

I get myself a new blender, exchange it with my credit card points. Yipee.. so this is consider FREE.

Put a few spoons of set yogurt into the blender, fill 1/4 of the blender.

Then add in the peach, I added 10 slices and to make it sweeter, i pour in the syrup.

Add in Cold Water to 3/4 of the blender

Blend It.

.

After blend, taste it if you need to add more yogurt or peach. If it’s too sweet, then add more cold water.

I keep 1 bottle (1litter) in the fridge so that we can drink it anytime we want.

So that’s it.. The Easy Yogurt or Lassi is done. Although the ingredients are quite costly and it’s just slightly cheaper if you compare on shelf brand. At least it’s more fun and flexible to build a healthy lifestyle. Let’s try it and let me know what’s your outcome after this !

Im not born with a Silverspoon but I can now dine at Silverspoon. Sounds good right? This is new sister outlet by the Citrus, and which I’m expecting that this gonna be something different from Citrus. It’s a talk in town, because lately there’s a lot of new eatery shop booming out in Miri.

Silverspoon is located opposite of See Hua Daily or it’s easier to locate, same row of Dr. Teo clinic where the DAP ceramah was located.

The decoration of this cafe is quite unique, simple and nice. It’s quite a comfy environment for family and friends.

As we sitted down, the long menu will be given by the waiter. And here comes my question mark??
All WORDS, No PIC, I think they only expect people who can read to dine here “_”

Looking at the menu, it’s towards western food but I can’t think of what to order because I’m there for a lunch. Hence I ask is there any noodles? The answer is NO. Luckily they serve rice, Oh God, we are typical chinese that we can’t survive without Noodle or Rice :p

The Ice Lemon Tea for him.

Hot Lemon for me

A Bowl of Apple Tong Shui , we shared <3

Alex ordered Fried Rice with Ham. The name might not be accurate cos it’s been quite sometime we dine here. Taste good, and i love it The servings of the food looks real attractive to me.

Then I have this pork chop with rice. Although it taste good but it’s kinda dry to me. I’m a typical chinese that must have soup or gravy for my rice here it’s hardly for me to swallow the rice

Before the end of this food review, let’s guess where did I taken this picture? =)

Thank You Mr Alex for bringing me here for a lovely lunch

This is not a latest news, but a review to Little Vietnam could be very useful for those who are still thinking whether to go or not to go. So this Vietnamese Cuisine is just newly open at Boulevard Commercial Centre. If you know where’s Dessert Master, then you will see this just at the corner.

We visited Little Vietnam a week after the opening, just to avoid the crowd. During it’s opening we saw there’s a lot of guest of honor. It is not strange as this business is run by one of the rich tycoon in Miri. Anyhow, we were there for the food, so let’s take a look at the menu.

Frankly, the menu is too limited and even the drinks are too limited too. Looking at the price, that cost for at least RM12 per bowl, I could only only afford to dine here once in a blue moon. The specialties of the Vietnamese Cuisine are main focusing on their “PHO” which is Vietnamese Kuih Tiaw. Taste good, smooth, chewy and better than our normal kuih tiaw. At least it’s something you can’t easily get it outside.

The waitress here are from Vietnam, very cute and friendly but I hardly catch their English.

The restaurants covers with a few Vietnam Ladies paintings, and the seats are just simple wooden table and stools.

This is Beef Stew with Rice RM16.

Portion : BIG
The soup is very thick, but i found it’s a little oily and salty for me. Somehow Alex love it much

The Pho Beef.

The waitress introduce me Pho Beef. She says this is highly recommended, and I seconded it. The soup is very good, i can taste it , it’s not MSG soup but its boiled with good ingredients. Take a look at the Kuih Tiaw, the beef slice, the portion is too big until I have to give half of it to Alex.

And to make this Pho Beef even tastier, you can add in Basil Leaves, Chilies and Lemon at your own preference.

2 glasses of complimentary drinks as we did not order any beverage. They only have coffee and canned drinks. Both are not our favourite but luckily the waitress are kind enough to provide us chinese tea.

That’s not the end, it comes with another 2 pieces of complimentary kuih. Taste Good Too!

Although overall we spent RM31 for 2 bowls of expensive Kuih Tiaw, but we found that it’s actually worth to try. The portion itself its worthwhile not to say it’s ingredients and taste.

View Untitled in a larger map

Don’t forget to invite me along if you are going to dine there

I’m still tuning to get back my normal routine of blog writing, but it seems like I could really only start writing a good post after a long long break. Yeah, since I’ve done my house moving thing, everything settle, and life back to normal routine.

Just the last week, I went to Brunei twice, once up to Bandar and the other day we went up to Seria only. Whenever there’s friends and relatives visit from far, we surely bring them to Brunei for a short trip. Nonetheless, Excapade Sushi would be in the list.

The nearest town to Miri is Kuala Belait, which our friend En keep pronounce it as Kuala Be-Li-At. So we had our Sushi at 2pm and we continue to drive around Brunei. They did not plan to go up to Gadong as they still have more station to go after this. Hence we drive along to Seria.

Seriously, I think this is my 1st visit to Seria, really don’t have much impression on this little town. Looking at the building and the street, its really quiet and classic. Which does not bring any much attention to us, the passerby. While we are hunting for an ATM machine, we passby this “kopitiam”. The thing that caught our attention ain’t the shop, but the young ladies sitting inside.

To our curiousity, why young girls love to hangout at this old coffee shop, also at the same time for the guys to “wash eyes” so we decided to park aside the car and have a tea break in this shop.

This shop is actually just located on the main streets, which Seria only have that few row of shops it won’t be hard to notice. It is just the same row as the Maybank or Opposite of HSBC.

It was just about 3 pm, but the shop is crowded with customers. From young to old folks. Enjoying the afternoon tea time with friends and family.

As for me, I found this Universal Cafe is quite interesting.
It gave me the 60’s feel, very classical feel.

This is their kitchen, where bread and drinks were out from this station.

Their specialties, toast, roti bakar, all about bread.

I get the waitress to get me the best of the best, so she introduce me cheese toast, and roti bakar with kaya .

Somehow by the time we sat down, the girls left. Look at their disappointed faces. So so so handsome

For 3 glass of drinks and few pieces of Roti Bakar, it cost around BND 5.60. It’s cheap if it’s not converted to RM. If you have chance to drop by, then do try out their roti bakar. You gonna love the classic feel!

Finally my travelogue for China trip has come to The End.

Thinking back, it was just happened a month ago but I feel like I wanted to go Holiday again! My next trip to Melbourne has been called off, heart pain, very pain! Don’t sob so much, let’s continue the final day in China. As we will be departing from Hang Zhou airport, so we need to depart Shanghai in the afternoon.

For the morning session, we went to 七宝老街 which is also an old street that sell a lot of food and local products.

This street is more localize, according to the tour guide, most of the tourist would not have visited this place. As this is one of our add on places of interest, so we have the chance to see some different culture here again. From the street, beggars were a lot, but the most pathetic could be seeing a lady carrying a baby begging on the street. That’s really a sad side of China.

It is surrounded by a river, and we need to cross a bridge in accessing the stalls.

There’s a lot of food stall that sells varieties of local delicacies. By looking at it , all looks yummilicious, but when eating it, I found the taste could be so out of my taste bud. =(

Most of the stalls are selling similar products, such as intestine , smelly tofu , rabbit meat, which is a never in my list!

The only food that could attracted me, the candy, the glutinous rice balls, and beverages. The glutinous rice balls were so big and hot, you have to be extra careful while eating it.

And I found a cute lion like dog! The owner just carry him around, and he is so friendly!

Ding ding ding, it’s lunch time Last lunch in Shanghai, and the soup is super HOT but NICE!

Then we depart to Hang Zhou, another 3 hours road trip. Still in time to have to do some shopping before the dinner.

Final dinner in Hang Zhou before we proceed to the cultural show.

西湖之夜 , the show is fantastic, worth for the price for what we’ve paid

Lastly, the end of the trip. Reaching Hang Zhou airport, and we’ve to ensure all of our luggage are not overweighted! The check in progress was quite smooth, as we were there on time so we still have plenty of times buying some food from the airport terminals.

The flight back to Kuala Lumpur will take another 5 hours to reach, so we must have a good sleep in the flight. Reaching KL around 4 am in the morning, and back to Miri at 7am flight. The overall journey was really meaningful, we really had a lot of great moments hanging out with friends. Hopefully, there’s gonna be another chance to travel again with a bunch of friends. Till here, the end of my China Travelogue. Hope you enjoy reading the journey with me.

Everyone knows Station One has finally arrived Miri, so have you try yet?

Again, it was my late lunch yesterday, it wasn’t on my list to eat, but since its newly open I don’t mind to give it a try.

The new Station One is located at Bintang Megamall, at the old wings main entrance. Previously it was Delifrance on that spot, but too bad it doesn’t survive long enough. The concept of Station One are meant to be a Leisure Cafe, meaning that you will get entertained instead of eating. Not a bad concept, but maybe it would be livelier environment if I’m going at night. I heard that there’s gonna be live band, which is more or less like Halo Cafe.

Excuse me for the low quality pictures, it’s all taken with my lousy 3Gs =(

Location wise, good. Environment wise, not bad. Ambiance, a bit dark but it’s too hot during day time!

The indoor seats were quite limited, because the layout plan is the narrow design, if you sit further away, I’m sure you could be very far away from the stage. But it’s okay, you use your ears for music, not your eyes right?

Or you can choose to sit outside, open air, hardly access to aircond but it has a lot of water cooling fan.

Now, take a look at the menu. Okay, being the first time I would allow myself to dine slightly more expensive meal I thought. But when I browse through the menu, I’ve been imagine how could I spend so much just for a lunch? Luckily I have Mr Ling with me to pay the bills, so I didn’t bother much about the price . Teeheheee…

Hey, I’m the #539 customer of Station One. Hehehe

Ordering system is good, you write what you want, but this is always a big trouble for the elderly and some waitress would not double confirm on what you’ve written.

My drink, Hot Honey.

His drink, 3 layer tea.

My meal, chicken chop rice. Thumbs up, I finished the whole plate.

His meal, err, should be Nasi Lemak.

It’s all about Fusion, and that’s the trend going on nowadays. Although the price is slightly expensive, but I’m pretty sure it’s a good hangout place with friends and family.

Last but not least, it SERVE NO PORK. Don’t wait, go ahead and give it a try today!

Finally , it reach Day 7 of our China Trip. I’ve recovered from Flu, weather has been turning hotter, wallet has gone slimmer and tummy has got bigger. Phew!

So we’ve seen all the landmark in Shanghai, so today it’s time to EMPTY our wallet. Hurray! Whenever the tour guide says “Shopping Time” the whole group will automatically wake up.

The morning tour begins with “Chinese Traditional Massage”.

I keep wondering, it’s not listed in our itinerary, but how come the package so good bring us to massage. As what I thought, it was like in Thailand, where they bring you to massage and you have to pay tips to the masseur. Anyway, XiaoYuan the tour guide insist the massage is FREE, no tips allow. That’s bring more suspicious to us, where got FREE lunch in the world?

So when we reach the massage place, the tour guide will start telling us this is a Medical Hall run by the government called 同仁堂 . Finally, the real faces come out, they use “Massage” as an excuse to get closer to you then the master will start telling you which part of your organ is dying, you should buy this , take this , and eat this to cure your sickness!

By now, you should feel that it’s a SPAM right?
See, we Chinese very “kiasi”. We can accept whatever cursing they made, and agree that we should take precautions in that short 30 minutes. All brain washed, by CLOROX!. Almost the whole group of us did purchase at least something from them. A little tiny bottle will cost RM200+, nothing is cheap here. Yet, they will have their ways to persuade you to buy in bulk, at least for 3 months supplement , so the amount ended up to be very BIG.

Really, no free lunch in this world. Now you believe?
You only get to eat such a great meals after spending a few thousands of Ringgit Malaysia at their shop.

See la, next time, don’t bring credit cards. You have cards, you have excuse to simply spend! Dangit!

So where’s the medicine now? Inside the drawer, growing mucus soon.

Enough is Enough. Lesson learnt. Let’s continue the entire trip.

The next stop after lunch was at 新天地 Xin Tian Di, a western street where you could see a lot of westerner having lunch here.

The building are nice and unique. I felt that I’m stepping in London Street!

Next, we went to 城隍庙 Cheng Huang Miao , it’s not a temple but it’s actually an old street that consist of a lot of shoplots selling local products and handicraft.

We get to see a lot of new things here, especially in FOOD.

If you are thinking to get souvenir, then this is a great place to buy souvenir. Somehow, you must remember to bargain very HARD. As this is a tourist area, you can’t avoid they might slaughter you anytime.

As for the food, the most popular Shanghai Dumpling Bun 上海小笼包 sold here too. They have a lot of stalls selling it but the one called 南翔 is the best. But make sure you are ready for the long queue. I did not manage to try that bun, but my friend who had tried it says it taste just like what we had in the restaurant. So why does so many people still queuing for it ? Because it’s Famous la!

There’s a lot of side food, along the streets. There’s the pigeon, I really don’t dare to eat. Ya, i scare “bertflu”. Hahha

I’ve bought some souvenirs here while others bought a lot of “Cheong Sam”. It’s relatively cheap compare to what we could get in Malaysia. It’s just selling at RM80 per piece. Price varies by quality.

We spent about 2 hours here, and the next station before dinner is another shopping station. But it’s yet another SPAM place. It’s the place selling 貔貅, Brave Troops. If you are superstitious, then you may consider buying one. They will tell you your luck, and let you know which colour of the troop is best suitable for you.

The lousy dinner, reason: because we did not purchase enough 貔貅 so he can’t earn more commission.

For the rest of the night, we were given own leisure time. Since our hotel is very near to 城隍庙, so we decide to go there again at night. The buildings were light up at night, looking real nice! We came back again to do last minute shopping, and I get my mom and my niece some Cheong Sam.

This would be the final night in China. Heading back to hotel, and start packing again. Tomorrow we will be heading back to Hang Zhou , and flying back to Malaysia.
