Nasi Lalapan, I bet its not something new in town, somehow its not covered by everyone yet, especially in the Chinese Community.

Nasi Lalapan is actually an Indonesia Dish, and which it made me recalls of my trip to Bali, Indonesia few years ago, actually I’ve tried a similar dish called Flying Fish.

Flying Fish @ Bali

Side dish and Belacan served with nasi daun pisang @ Bali

In fact, the Nasi Lalapan that we had in Miri is just a simple dish, yet its delicious! Finger licking good! * if you had it by hand, just like what Bong did.

This had been our quite “normal” routine, when we thought of dinner. Just ther other night, both of us feels to have “lalapan”. So here we go, and I said this time I must covered this dine out. :)

As usual, we had the Chicken Lalapan, in fact there’s other choices, like beef and few choices of Fish. Prices ranging from RM8 to RM12. Its not something cheap, but i think it’s worth paying it. :)

The special thing that ignite the spark…. the spark that everyone is crowding at this Muara Restaurant.. mainly is due to its hot and spicy “Belacan”. The most important menu of lalapan. Without it, its no longer a lalapan. Come along with the big chicken drumstick, we have some side dish such as cucumber, cabbages, daun ubi, and fried tofu. Oh ya and a plate of white rice which I never manage to finish it.

Can you see the chili seeds?

Shh…. Bong says he saw the process they made the Belacan in the kitchen, they actually stir the ingredients on the plate one by one ley!!! So I can understand why they are slow at time..

See.. Bong eat up clean!!!

I’m a hot food lover, and I miss the food I had in Bali. Now in Miri, is getting more and more places selling Nasi Lalapan. Maybe I should try out some other place. I heard that there’s level grading for Lalapan, I’ve only tried level 1, Bong, bila lagi level 2 har?

I’ve learn to eat Drumstick :) Moving forward :)

Oh ya, if you can’t really stand for hot food, maybe you can order icy lime juice, “limau ais”. I think it might helps to cool down, I always do that. :)

Alright, will let you know again if I found level 2. If you haven’t try, do give them a visit. I’m not sure their operating hours, but I’ve been there during the lunch time, tea time and dinner time… so I guess they have a long operating hours. Ahem, don’t worry of your safety too, rumors says that the owner is a police officer. How true is that? Please check it out for me, wokey? Teeheehe…
